Major Characteristics


  • Elastosil which vulcanises by condensation is made of two components, a polymer (rubber) and a hardener (catalyst). The mix ratio of both varies between 2 % and 5 % according to the specific product.
  • Vulcanisation creates a volatile product reaction (alcohol) causing the product to contract by between 0.5 % and 0.8 %
  • Alterations to the vulcanisation process can only occur due to a lack of humidity. Relative humidity in the work place should be over 45 % 
  • The moulds cannot be used immediately after manufacture. The residual alcohol must be eliminated from the vulcanite before use.
  • Shore A range from 12 to 60
